This webpage helps understanding the the new My Pyramid as a research based source of dietary guidelines. Also contains information about how to assess fat, sugar and salt in your diet in order to make positive changes towards better health.
Wegmans Grocers - Special Diets
Click on the Eat Well Live Well tab to find grocery Shopping and nutrition information from Wegmans Grocer. This site has nutrition information provided by a registered dietitian. Information about meal planning for people with diabetes, lactose intolerance, low sodium, low fats, gluten sensitivity, vegetarianism and more.  There is search feature that may be used to find out whether a certain grocery store product is appropriate for a lactose free, low sodium, gluten free, or kosher diet.  This is a great website!

NHLBI, Lowering Blood Cholesterol
This NHLBI document is called "Live Healthier, Live Longer" it explains heart disease, cholesterol and what you can do to live healthier and longer.  This is a very interactive online document.  Visit the "Create a Diet" section and create a Step I or Step II diet.  The program uses your height, weight and age and food preference to design a personal eating plan.

This site has everything about your heart and lungs. It is the government website for research and consumer information. Go to the information for patients and the public and browse great information that can be downloaded or ordered for a very small price.
Nutrition Action Health Letter Cholesterol-Lowering Supplements
Review of the scientific research on cholesterol-lowering products and foods your patients may find available over the counter. This is a great reference for deciding whether you need to spend money on supplements to lower your cholesterol.
